Install Krutidev Font in MS Word

Complete guide to installing Krutidev 010 in Microsoft Word on Windows 10 and Windows 11.

Step 1: Download the Font

Download Krutidev 010 from our font download page. The file is a .ttf (TrueType Font) file, about 150 KB. Save it somewhere you can find it easily - your Downloads folder works fine.

Step 2: Install the Font on Windows

You have two options:

Option A: Right-click install (fastest)

  1. Find the downloaded .ttf file in File Explorer
  2. Right-click on it
  3. Click "Install" (installs for current user) or "Install for all users" (requires admin)
  4. The font installs in 1-2 seconds - no confirmation dialog

Option B: Drag to Fonts folder

  1. Open Settings > Personalization > Fonts
  2. Drag the .ttf file into the Fonts window
  3. Windows installs it automatically

Step 3: Select Krutidev in Word

  1. Open Microsoft Word
  2. Click in the font name box on the Home ribbon (it shows "Calibri" or your current font)
  3. Type "Kruti" - the font "Kruti Dev 010" should appear in the dropdown
  4. Select it
  5. Start typing - your English keys now produce Hindi characters in the Krutidev layout

If the font does not appear, close Word completely and reopen it. The font list refreshes when Word starts.

Common Issues

Font not showing in Word's font list

Close ALL Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Install the font using "Install for all users" (right-click > Install for all users). Reopen Word. If it still does not appear, restart your computer. Some Office installations cache the font list and need a full restart to refresh.

Text looks like squares or question marks

You selected a different Krutidev variant than the one the document was typed in. Try switching between "Kruti Dev 010", "KrutiDev 010", and "Kruti Dev" (some installations register under slightly different names). Also check if the document uses DevLys instead of Krutidev - they look similar but are different fonts.

Hindi text appears as English characters

This means the Krutidev font is not active. Select all text (Ctrl+A), then change the font to "Kruti Dev 010". The text will transform from English-looking characters to Hindi. This is normal behavior - Krutidev maps English ASCII characters to Hindi glyphs.

Krutidev font MS Word me show nahi ho raha - kya karun?
First confirm the font is installed by checking Control Panel > Fonts (search for "Kruti"). If it is there but not showing in Word, close all Office applications completely, then reopen Word. If still missing, try restarting your computer. Some antivirus programs block new font files - temporarily disable your antivirus and reinstall the font.
Can I use Krutidev in Word Online or Google Docs?
No. Word Online and Google Docs do not support custom local fonts. They only use web fonts from their own library. To use Krutidev, you need the desktop version of Microsoft Word (or LibreOffice Writer). If you must work online, type in Krutidev on desktop Word, then convert to Unicode using our converter before pasting into online editors.

Every desktop version of Microsoft Word supports Krutidev: Word 2007, 2010, 2013, 2016, 2019, 2021, and Microsoft 365. The installation process is identical across all versions. LibreOffice Writer also supports Krutidev fonts.
