Krutidev Typing Lessons
10 structured lessons from home row basics to speed building. Follow in order. Each lesson introduces new keys and practice words. 30 minutes daily gets you to 20+ WPM in 6 weeks.
Lesson 1: Home Row Basics
The home row is where your fingers rest. Your left hand covers a (ं), s (े), d (क), f (ि). Your right hand covers j (र), k (ा), l (स), ; (य). These 8 keys produce the most common Hindi characters.

Lesson 2: Home Row Words
Combine home row keys into real Hindi words. Focus on keeping your fingers on the home position and returning after each keystroke. Speed does not matter yet - accuracy does.

Lesson 3: Top Row Introduction
The top row adds key consonants and matras. Your index fingers reach up from d/j to r/u. The "e" key gives म (ma), "r" gives त (ta) - do not confuse with English letter mappings.

Lesson 4: Top Row Words
Build words using both rows. Keep reaching up to the top row smooth and rhythmic. If you mistype, finish the word and move on rather than backspacing - this builds speed faster.

Lesson 5: Bottom Row Introduction
The bottom row adds more consonants and vowels. The "x" key gives ग (ga), "c" gives ब (ba), "n" gives द (da). Note: "n" gives द, not न. For न, press "u" on the top row.

Lesson 6: Bottom Row Words
Full three-row words. You now have access to most Hindi consonants, vowels, and matras. Practice common words that mix all three rows. This is where muscle memory starts forming.

Lesson 7: Matras Deep Dive
Master all 8 primary matras. The critical rule: chhoti i matra (f) goes BEFORE the consonant. Every other matra goes after. Type "fd" for कि, but "dh" for की. This distinction causes 80% of beginner errors.

Lesson 8: Conjuncts and Special Keys
Learn the dedicated conjunct keys. "=" gives त्र directly. Shift+k gives ज्ञ. Shift+j gives श्र. Shift+[ then k gives क्ष. For other conjuncts, type consonant + halant (~) + consonant.

Lesson 9: Full Paragraphs
Type complete sentences and paragraphs. Focus on maintaining a steady rhythm rather than bursting fast then pausing. Read 2-3 words ahead of what you are typing to keep the flow smooth.
Lesson 10: Speed Building
Push your speed gradually. Set a target 2 WPM above your current average and maintain it for a full session. Once comfortable, add another 2 WPM. Jumping 10 WPM at once causes errors that become bad habits. Track your progress on our progress page.
