Troubleshooting

Empty copy result: Some PDFs use fonts with custom character encodings that prevent text extraction. Try opening the PDF in Google Chrome (which has a built-in PDF viewer with better text extraction) and copying from there.

Partial conversion: If some characters convert correctly and others remain garbled, the PDF likely uses a mix of fonts (e.g., Krutidev for body text and Chanakya for headings). Convert each section separately using the appropriate converter.

Line breaks and spacing: PDF text extraction often adds extra line breaks and spaces. After conversion, clean up the formatting in Word using Find & Replace (Ctrl+H) to replace double spaces and extra paragraph marks.

How do I convert a Krutidev PDF to Word?

Krutidev maps Hindi characters to ASCII code points. When you copy text from a PDF, the PDF reader extracts the underlying ASCII codes, not the visual glyphs. The letter "d" in ASCII is stored as "d" even though the Krutidev font shows it as "क". Our converter maps these ASCII codes back to proper Unicode Hindi characters.
Can I convert a scanned Krutidev PDF?
Not directly. Scanned PDFs are images, not text. You need OCR (Optical Character Recognition) first to extract the text, then conversion. Standard Hindi OCR tools (like Google Docs OCR) recognize Unicode Hindi, not Krutidev glyphs. Krutidev OCR is a specialized problem that few tools handle well. We are exploring this feature for a future update.
Does the conversion preserve formatting from the PDF?
No. Our converter handles text content only. Bold, italic, font size, tables, and layout are not preserved during the Krutidev-to-Unicode conversion. For basic documents (letters, circulars), this is usually acceptable. For complex layouts (forms, tables), you may need to reformat in Word after conversion.
Can I convert multiple PDF pages at once?
