30-Day CPCT Typing Blueprint

A structured daily practice plan to go from zero to CPCT exam-ready in 30 days. Each week builds on the last. No shortcuts, no gimmicks - just deliberate practice with clear targets.

By KrutiDevTools TeamLast updated:
Prerequisites: Install Krutidev 010 font (download here). Open our typing test in a browser tab. Keep the keyboard layout open in another tab for the first week.

1Week 1: Home Row Mastery

15 minutes/day - Target: 5-8 WPM

Days 1-2: Memorize the home row keys. Place your fingers on a-s-d-f (left hand) and j-k-l-; (right hand). These produce: ं-े-क-ि (left) and र-ा-स-य (right). Type each character 20 times without looking at the keyboard. Use the practice page home row exercises.

Days 3-4: Type two-character combinations. Start with dk (का), dh (की), ds (के), jk (रा). These are the most common syllables in Hindi. Type each combination 30 times.

Days 5-7: Type simple words using only home row keys. Examples: dk (का), dke (काम), jkl (रास), dky (काल). Take a 1-minute typing test on beginner difficulty. Record your WPM.

2Week 2: All Three Rows

20 minutes/day - Target: 8-12 WPM

Days 8-9: Learn the top row: q() w() e() r() t() y() u() i() o() p(). Spend 5 minutes drilling each row individually, then 10 minutes mixing all rows.

Days 10-11: Learn the bottom row: z(्र) x() c() v() b() n() m(). Practice words that span all three rows.

Days 12-14: Practice with the Shift key for capital letters (half consonants). Key combinations: Shift+d(क्), Shift+r(त्), Shift+e(म्). Take 2-minute typing tests on beginner difficulty daily. Your WPM should be 8-12 by day 14.

3Week 3: Paragraphs and Speed

25 minutes/day - Target: 12-18 WPM

Days 15-17: Switch to intermediate difficulty passages. Focus on typing complete sentences without stopping. Do NOT backspace for minor errors. Finish the sentence, then move on. This single habit is worth 3-5 WPM.

Days 18-19: Practice the tricky characters: conjuncts (त्र with =, क्ष with Shift+[ then k, ज्ञ with K), reph (Z after consonant), and chhoti i matra (f before consonant). These slow every beginner down. Drill them in isolation.

Days 20-21: Take 5-minute typing tests on intermediate difficulty. Analyze your problem keys after each test. Spend 5 minutes drilling the 3 characters that cause the most errors.

4Week 4: Mock Tests and Exam Simulation

30 minutes/day - Target: 15-22 WPM

Days 22-24: Take 10-minute tests on advanced difficulty. Simulate exam pressure - no looking at keyboard, no pausing, no restarting. Record every result. Your Net WPM matters more than Gross WPM.

Days 25-27: Take 15-minute mock tests (CPCT exam duration). Use Government and CPCT Exam passages. Review problem keys after each test. If accuracy drops below 90%, slow down. Speed without accuracy gives a lower Net WPM.

Days 28-30: Full exam simulation. 15-minute advanced tests, 3 per day, with 10-minute breaks between. Track your consistency. If your Net WPM stays above 15 across all 3 tests, you are exam-ready.

Daily Practice Checklist

  • 1. Warm up: type the alphabet row by row (2 minutes)
  • 2. Drill problem keys from yesterday (3 minutes)
  • 3. Take a timed test at your current week's difficulty (5-15 minutes)
  • 4. Review problem keys and accuracy (2 minutes)
  • 5. One more timed test focusing on accuracy over speed (5-10 minutes)

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I clear CPCT in 30 days starting from zero?
The minimum CPCT requirement is 15 WPM in Hindi. Starting from zero, 30 days of disciplined daily practice (20-30 minutes) is enough for most people to reach 15-18 WPM. Reaching 25+ WPM typically takes 45-60 days. This plan gets you exam-ready, not expert-level.
What if I miss a day of practice?
Missing one day does not reset your progress. Muscle memory degrades slowly - a single missed day has almost no effect. If you miss 3+ consecutive days, repeat the last 2 days of exercises before moving forward. Consistency matters more than intensity.
Should I practice on the same keyboard I will use in the exam?
Ideally yes. CPCT exam centers use standard desktop keyboards. If you practice on a laptop, the key spacing and travel feel different. Borrow or buy a basic USB keyboard for practice if your exam is on a desktop. The muscle memory difference is real.
How do I know if I am ready for the CPCT exam?
Take 3 consecutive mock tests at 15-minute duration with advanced difficulty on our typing test page. If your Net WPM is consistently above 18 and accuracy above 92%, you are ready. Below that, continue practicing for another week.
Is this plan also useful for UPSSSC and SSC typing tests?
The core typing skills transfer directly. UPSSSC and SSC may use slightly different test software, but the Krutidev Remington layout is the same. Adjust the mock test duration to match your specific exam format.
